They complement your main health insurance. They do not replace it.

Supplemental Insurance

Protection that complements your health insurance.

A main health policy does not cover every expense or every financial effect of an accident, a hospital stay or a serious diagnosis. Supplemental coverage can pay defined benefits when a covered event occurs, according to the policy.

  • Benefits defined by the policy
  • Alongside your main coverage

Coverage we can review

Each category responds to a different event.

We only present coverage that is available by insurer, state, eligibility and current authorization. Amounts, covered events, maximums and exclusions depend on each policy.

  • Accident / Accidental Injury

    Accident

May pay benefits for covered injuries, treatments or services resulting from an accident.

  • Critical Illness

    Critical illness

May pay a defined benefit, or lump sum, after the diagnosis of an illness or event covered by the policy. It does not cover every illness or all treatment costs.

  • Cancer / Heart Attack & Stroke

    Cancer, heart attack and stroke

Where the insurer offers a specific product, it is supplemental coverage for the diagnoses or events defined in that contract.

  • Hospital Indemnity

    Hospital stays

May pay fixed benefits related to a qualifying hospital stay or other services defined by the policy. It is not comprehensive health insurance and does not necessarily pay the actual cost.

  • Hospital & Doctor / Fixed Indemnity

    Hospital and doctor

Pays scheduled or fixed benefits for certain covered medical services. It is limited-benefit (fixed indemnity) coverage, not comprehensive medical coverage.

  • Dental / Vision / Hearing

    Dental, vision and hearing

Only the combinations that are actually available. Networks, allowances, waiting periods, frequencies and limits vary by product and insurer.

Notebook with the basic concepts of insurance

Before you compare

They complement. They do not replace.

This coverage is used together with your main protection. It helps to be clear about what it is, and also what it is not:

  • It does not replace comprehensive (major medical) health insurance, ACA coverage, Medicare or Medicaid.
  • “Supplemental” here does not mean Medicare Supplement / Medigap. That is covered on the Medicare page.
  • Benefits are paid according to the covered event or service and the contract terms, not automatically.
  • Availability depends on the state, the insurer, eligibility, underwriting and the product.

How we review it

Your main coverage first. Then what is missing.

  1. Wooden blocks showing the types of insurance
The need does not start with a policy. It starts with a responsibility.

    Understand

What your main insurance covers today.

We review your deductible, your out-of-pocket maximum and what you would have to cover after an accident, a hospital stay or a serious diagnosis.

  2. Man deep in thought at his computer
If something changed tomorrow, what would need to keep working?

    Identify

Which financial effects would be left uncovered.

Not only medical bills: also income that stops, travel, or household costs during a recovery.

    • Hospital stays

    • Accident

    • Diagnoses

    • Household costs

  3. Couple reviewing documents at home
Every policy defines its own benefits. We go through it with you, line by line.

    Review

    The coverage available to you.

We compare the benefits, covered events, maximums, waiting periods and exclusions of the options actually available in your state.

  4. Family by the lake at sunset
Informed decisions, with no promises the contract does not back.
